LivingWriter | Online Writing Platform

LivingWriter Online Writing Platform
Aim:

LivingWriter is the most efficient online writing software available for anyone looking to create (or finish) their next work. Platform is like google docs but on steroids for book writers/authors. Our aim is on on-going agile development with feedback from writers and add features accordingly.

Project Description:

LivingWriter was born due to a lack of solid software for writing. The founding team are all writers, and some are already published authors. Owner’s vision for the future is to be the singular point for all your writing needs. To do that we have created the most expansive, functional, user-friendly writing program available. Main aim is to continuously improve on the platform, take feedback from our writers, and take LivingWriter beyond what we can even imagine right now.

LivingWriter follows B2C business modal. With a subscription based system the writers can easily subscribe to the livingwriter on monthly and yearly basis. LivingWriter is backed by Amazon Cloud Services. Every word you type is instantly saved to the cloud. Additionally there are revision histories (version control that no other writing app has) for each and every chapter of your story that can be saved forever.

Scope:

We created a list of the features which included the following things:

Features:

  • Personlised Login: Personalised login is provided for writers and admin for accessing their features.
  • Story List: Listing for Stories where users can create a new story with predefined templates, edit stories, share stories to other users and delete stories.
  • Story Edit: This is the main functionality where users can add outlines, chapters, subchapters, etc to the story. We have used quill editor which is open source, lightweight, and very intuitive.
  • Dark Mode: Dark mode is for night owls so that they can easily write at nights. It reduces the light emitted by device screens while maintaining the minimum color contrast ratios required for readability.
  • Subscription: As it follows the B2C modal, it has a subscription-based system the writers can easily subscribe to the livingwriter on a monthly and yearly basis.
  • Research: Good book is backed by good research(unless it’s a fiction story). So there is a research section as well to well document articles, images, documents, and notes.
  • Revision History: There are revision histories for each and every chapter of the story. So that you can look back at the changes and apply older versions if needed.
  • Share: Users can share stories with others and they can have view/edit permission as per the privilege assigned.
  • Report a Bug: It’s a constantly evolving software, So there can be a missed bug sometimes. Users can easily report a bug from this section.
